I started with scuba diving in September 1993 in Berlin (Germany). For the Open Water Dives we went to the „Helenesee“, a lake close to Frankfurt/Oder – this was in September at 8°C outside and a cosy 12°C in the water. So I decided there and then that diving was not for me ... freezing cold water and nothing to see ... no, thank you!

In 1996 I wound up in Thailand on Phuket Island. At Kamala Beach I bumped into the scuba instructors Gerson and Guenther from G & G Diving. We became friends and when I mentioned my “diving career” back in Germany (I held an OWD brevet) they convinced me to try diving with them. Thanks to them I was able to enjoy my first warm ocean water dive at the King Cruiser wreck – and immediately got infected with the scuba virus!
Since then I have been diving basically every day. Thanks so much to you Gerson and Guenter. Later G & G Diving changed ownership to Markus and Susan (here a huge thank you as well). Me, I continued diving as much as I could. Very quickly I completed my AOWD and Rescue Diver courses and from 2002 I could call myself a Divemaster.

Diving is life –
the rest is surface interval time

Soon thereafter, I joined a liveaboard where I soon realised that as a Divemaster, you’re well at the bottom of the professional diving hierarchy. In 2003 I successfully completed my PADI IE (thanks to Ben!) and one year later I did the crossover to CMAS instructor.
I have been diving continuously ever since. Meanwhile I have more than 8,000 logged dives – of course all of them in cosy warm water. Being a CMAS**** Instructor as well as PADI Staff Instructor, I certified more than 850 divers and I did my best to pass on the scuba virus to them. I have also trained 250 Divemasters, Assistant Instructors & Instructors and received several awards – please check below if you want to know more.
